LEFT IN SHOCK- BE WARNED!!! This could destroy your life!

Im left in absolute shock after my recent dealings with Naked Insurance! I have been a client of Naked for over 4 years now paying quite a bit as I have my building, contents and vehicle insurance through Naked. Initially loving the ease and simplicity of the automated service and being a big advocate of Naked by referring many people to them. This seems to have been a big mistake!

I had to adapt a few things on my FNB bond and this requires a slight increase on my insurance and proof of insurance sent through to FNB. I log on the app (admittedly 1st time in a while as I have not needed to) I open the app to find all my policies are missing, no notice or reason just not there. I immediately log a call and receive an email confirming, and me assuming there is some issue with their app. With no immediate response I decide to call in, only to be told that my policies were cancelled in August of 2024 due to inability to collect my premiums. Confused I open the app again to find that the card I used to register has expired on the app, now this is the 1st time I have become aware of this so I obviously agitated I asked why I was not informed, and I was told that they sent me emails. I have not received a single email in this regards. I later found that the emails were stopped by our spam filter but not the email address (as I mentioned the support email I did get) the problem is the way they worked their emails telling me they could not collect payment which cause the mails to be blocked. I was driving around and living in a house that had ZERO insurance for 6 months unaware. Naked seems to think that relying on email is enough. I strongly disagree! Its not that I would not or could not pay my premiums, I was unaware of the card expiry! Every mobile based service I have ever used where the card expires will contact me not only by email but SMS, WhatsApp or most efficiently using their own app push notifications. If I was aware of this issue, it would have been solved in seconds but instead Naked decides that sending an email is enough and without response to an undelivered email will merrily cancel my policy putting with no other attempt to contact me. The result of this could literally destroy a person's entire life! Not only by way a car accident but say these heavy rains caused flooding and collapse of my house possibly onto my car destroying both, I would be left in millions of debt with no insurance. It is scary to think how any major issue in the last 6 months could have left me in such a position and me unawares of a card expiry, yet Naked (or at least the employees I delt with) seem to think this is acceptable and brush it off liek its business as usual.

I cannot stress enough how dangerous this is and how one's life could be permanently destroyed because of a lack of basic communication from Naked. I would highly reconsider i you are thinking of using Naked Insurance. Card expiry is a common occurrence, and emails are NOT considered a safe form of notification when its this critical to one's financial wellbeing. BE VERY CAREFULL THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE! Nonautomated services use debit order being much safer and they understand that email is not a safe and effective form of notification. Extremely angry but glad I caught this before it was too late!
