Don't let the cheap premiums fool you!

I've been with Naked for about a year now and I've only claimed once for a ****** phone which was a smooth process.

I've got 2 cars and home contents and a bunch of other high value items insured with them. Now with the annual review my premium got increased by 14% and my excess for each car got increased from R1500 to R2500, and on home contents got changed from a R1000 to R1800. Accounting for the excess increases my premium effectively got increased by 20+%.

This is daylight *******! I haven't had an increase like this in over 8 years of being insured with multiple providers. They give some s**** that the increase is based on how many claims they expect and what those claims will cost and the excess you choose which is all nonsense.

I'll be moving my insurance to someone else out of principal.

Hi Casper, we regret hearing such negative feedback as we pride ourselves in excellent customer service and an excellent customer journey with us.

Periodically, typically annually, Naked reviews and updates its premiums to make sure that we are still charging customers the right premiums for their cover.

The process of reviewing our premiums runs independently of our claims process. While this update to our premiums could happen during (or soon after) your making a claim, it is not triggered or caused by the claim itself.

I would like to assure you that our first and foremost priority is assisting you with your claim so that it can be resolved quickly and with care.

With respect to your premium update, there are many different things that feed into this updated view of Naked’s premiums. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • General inflation on retail products and services.
  • Exchange rates, especially where imported parts will be needed to do repairs or replacements.
  • Changes in things like the conditions of the roads or increased power interruptions leading to more power surges.
  • Changes in crime rates in your area etc.

We have also put together a blog to help with any questions you might have about your premium update. You can check it out here.

If you still have questions about your premium update or about any ongoing or recent claims experience please let us know and we will be happy to assist you.

I'm sorry but inflation, exchange rates, bad road conditions, loadshedding, crime etc. has been around for ages. If it hasn't warranted a 20+% increase in the past, it shouldn't warrant it now.
