I recently had a very disappointing experience with Naked Insurance that I feel other potential customers should be aware of. My claim was for pothole damage something completely unavoidable and the way the process was handled left me frustrated and out of pocket.
Naked assigned an approved provider to repair my car without providing quotes in advance, and I only received the assessment document hours before I was required to collect my vehicle. To my surprise, I had to pay R5,500 out of pocket, while Naked’s contribution was just under R500. This is especially frustrating because I could have had the same repair done elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.
It felt like Naked’s priority was simply to process a claim, not to actually help the customer or offer meaningful options. They provide very little flexibility or transparency, and the customer ends up carrying the majority of the burden even when the damage is not their fault.
On top of that, I had opted for additional cover (R10,000 “Extras”), which they continue to debit monthly, even though it was never applicable to my situation and they don’t verify whether it actually serves the customer. Paying for a cover that has zero value in practice is frustrating and feels unfair.
Overall, I feel Naked Insurance does not prioritize the customer’s interests. Claims are handled in a way that ensures the customer suffers financially, even for unavoidable incidents. Transparency, options, and genuine support seem to be severely lacking.
It’s seems like they’re only useful for item covers as per reviews. Not necessarily car
