Would not recommend taking insurance with Naked.

A third-party truck drove into my car and caused significant damage to the driver’s side — most of the side was sc****d away. The accident was clearly not my fault, and I provided Naked with all the required information, including the driver and owner’s contact details.

Despite this, Naked still forced me to pay a R3,000 excess upfront while promising they would recover the costs from the third party. The truck owner even contacted me personally trying to settle outside of court, but I declined because I wanted the matter handled legally and properly through insurance.

Now the third party is refusing to reimburse me, and Naked has still not refunded my excess or made any effort to keep me updated on recovering the money. It’s extremely frustrating paying for insurance only to be left out of pocket for an accident you didn’t cause.

Very disappointed with the way this has been handled.

Hi one of your Team members literally sent me an email now saying
"Good day

I trust you are well.

We were unfortunately unsuccessful with our recovery attempt on this claim. We made use of all received third party information and further information obtained while the third-party details were validated.

Please be advised that third party company insurer stated the driver did not act on course and scope of employment and that we must direct our claim to the driver. We tried to contact third party driver but he has not not been responding to our attempts of contact by not responding to correspondence sent and not taking our calls.

We have considered the possibility of litigation, and a business decision was made that it would be uneconomical to proceed with a very lengthy and costly court process at this juncture. Therefore, file will be closed on our side.
