NO-GO 'ON-LINE' FLIGHT BOOKINS & "Travel Insurance"!

I made a booking for a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg in January for my wife and I to do a Train trip from Pretoria to Cape Town. I took out 'Travel Insurance' with their 'associated Insurance company - XCover.com'. Due to the escalation in Covid-19 cases and my wife being a health practitioner, we postponed our train trip. I requested to amend our flight booking to a flight in April. They amended our flight booking, but at almost double the cost(R3368.00) and the Xcover insurance did NOT cover these amendment costs. The original airfare was R1718 for two people from Cape Town to Johannesburg, the amended cost was: Re-booking handling fee= R650, Service fee= R300 and Airline fee= R700.00, a total of R1650.00 extra! Their insurance only cover CANCELLATIONS and not any changes/ amendments. Their policy wording shows: Exclusions to the plan: 11. Any loss directly or indirectly arising from quarantine ,natural emergency, medical epidemic or PANDEMIC. -Their reply to my claim - "the reason for your claim links to the above exclusion." One would think that during these 'Covid times' your travel arrangements would be covered to make amendments. WARNING - book flights through the actual AIRLINE and READ THE FINE PRINT for INSURANCES!
