Beware of 2-week free trail option
Around 3 Weeks ago I signed up for a free 2-week usage of MyHeritage.com services. If not cancelled the paid version becomes applicable. No problem there. On day 10, I visited the website to cancel and entered my login details. I got the message that it doesn't match. Thinking that perhaps I did enter the incorrect login details, I opted for the reset of password option. This request should prompt an email from MyHeritage.com to rest my password. NO SUCH EMAIL REACHED ME. I tried this procedure another 4 times over the next 48-hours with NO response from MyHeritage.com. I contacted MasterCard to stop the payment but their policy is that the transaction must first go through and only THEN can I query it!! A few days later I got an email from MyHeritage.com with the Invoice for my R1700ZAR to be deducted within the next few days. I immediately answered the email informing them that I don't want the subscription but can't reach them. NO RESPONSE. Back to MasterCard, whom now undertook to request a refund from MyHeritage.com. A few days later I received another email from MyHeritage.com in so far that NEXT years' auto renewal of my subscription is now cancelled. Again I rep**** indicating that I want THIS deduction refunded. NO RESPONSE.
If this is a new tactic to "catch" subscribers with the 2-week free trail and then simply ignoring any cancellation attempts, I don't know for sure. But I've been caught good and solid and just a word of warning to anyone considering this avenue.
