In view of the fact that Mweb's entire website does not contain any email address to which complaints can be lodged, I had no alternative but to lodge a complaint directly to Hello Peter as I'm not going to waste my airtime on an hour call to Mweb! Once again I have a problem with regard to a package change which could not be resolved by Mweb's online queries system! This time my complaint revolves around Mweb's upgrade of my package from 100/50 Uncapped Fibre to 200/100 Uncapped Fibre at an amount of R1049 per month. Mweb's notification email in this regard dated 26 February 2021, refers. I was more than happy to accept this upgrade to double my current speed at an increase of only R49 per month. However, during the latter part of March after the speed upgrade was done and we tested our new upgraded speed, we only learned that we cannot get the speed of 200/100 mbps as promised. While I'm typing here I took 3 speed tests from my cell phone on Wifi, namely 50/51 mbps, 103/51,2 mbps and 89,4/54,8. How disgusting is that! Not even close to the 200/100 mbps as promised by the so called upgrade! In other words this so-called upgrade was useless and of no value to us! We have tested all our pc's and mobile devices and all of them could hardly reach speeds of 100/50 mbps (our previous package speeds), not even to mention 200/100 mbps! My argument is as follows: If Mweb wants to upgrade a client's internet speed as the case in hand, they should also alert clients that the proposed higher speeds are dependable and only obtainable with the relevant software capabilities of devices such as lan cables, rooters, pc's and mobile devices and inform us which output capabilities are required in order to acquire the higher internet speeds. In response to my online query, dated 22 March 2021, ***, I was told that it will cost me R150 to regrade (I suppose this means back to previous package of 100/50 mbps). This is absolutely unacceptable! I won't pay a penalty due to Mweb's negligence of not informing me of the requirements needed to obtain a higher speed than 100/50 mbps! Furthermore, if Mweb do not change my package back to my previous package of 100/50 mbps Uncapped Fibre (of which the package price is now R899 pm) free of charge asap, and this complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, I will cancel my subscription immediately with Mweb. There are many other major players in this market to pick from and I'm definitely not going to be bul**** by a so-called big corporation!
