********* direct marketing without consent

MWEB sends direct marketing SMSs to my personal cell phone number, without my consent.
I was promised an explanation and evidence that I have granted permission, but they do not reply.
As far as I know, this is *******, not to mention an ********* invasion into my privacy.

Marketing is wrong when we are forced to check what communication we receive on our phones or personal email accounts, when we never give out permission to be marketed to. We expect it to be private, personally-directed communication to us. When it is unexpected, unwanted, unsolicited bulk marketing, it is a waste of our time and an invasion into our privacy. I never give permission for my detials to be distributed, yet MWEB clearly does - how do I know my details are kept secure? They should never have it in the first place. Advertise where potential customers have the choice to read it or not.
Hello FedUpWithGreed,

MWEB values privacy and as result, we always partner with Direct Marketing Association (DMA) accredited list suppliers, to ensure that they comply with the Consumer Protection Act. Following your complaint, we investigated and found that your details were included in one of the lists utilised for this campaign. We have removed you from the database and added you to an opt-out list, to ensure that you don't receive any further communication from MWEB.

The Direct Marketing Association has a centralised database that you can register your details on: https://www.nationaloptout.co.za. If you register your details on this database, you will not be contacted by any other members of the DMA.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by receiving MWEB's SMS, we hope this assists you in not receiving any further communication.

Kind regards
MWEB Client Services
