I was called by Pingd to offer me a data contract. the contract was for 20 GB 12:00 to 05:00 data and 5 GB daytime data. After this data is finished the price went up to a ridiculous amount of 1 rand a MB. Only a fool will pay that.

I explained to the salesperson, Julian Pillay, that I am not willing to pay the 1 rand a MB and I want the contract capped as soon as the limit is reached,.He assured me that as I can do this via MWeb when the contract is activated.

After receiving the sim card I called MWeb to cap the contract. MWeb then said that they cannot cap the contract until I have used at least 50 MW of the data sold at 1 rand. This was never discussed with me by Julian Pillay.

After using data to the amount of 3.4 GB as calculated by me, and 3.9 GB as calculated by the Cell C modem software used to connect and keep statistics, I received an SMS on the modem that I had used up all my data. The modem no longer functioned.

I called technical services at but their system was unable to see how much data had been used. (Conveniently?)

In summary, both MWeb and Pingd are trying to **** the public. Be aware of doing business with them. Someone is always out to **** you.
