Morning  Dayalan. We understand how frustrating it is to pay for a 40Mbps fibre line and see speeds below 1Mbps. That experience falls well short of what your connection should deliver, and it’s important we get this performing properly for you.
To help restore your speeds as quickly as possible, here are a few targeted checks and actions that often resolve this kind of issue:
1. Run a clean speed test
  • Connect a device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable
  • Close all apps and devices using the connection
  • Use a reliable test site like Speedtest
This confirms whether the issue is on the line or within the home network
2. Restart your fibre equipment
  • Power off the router and the fibre ONT box
  • Wait 2 to 3 minutes
  • Power the ONT on first, then the router
This refreshes the session and often restores normal speeds
3. Check for network congestion or outages
  • Slow speeds can sometimes be linked to congestion or a fault on the Vuma Reach network in your area
  • If speeds are consistently below 1Mbps, this may point to a line or infrastructure issue rather than normal fluctuation
4. Test over WiFi vs cable
  • If WiFi is slow but cable is fast, the issue is likely signal interference, distance, or router placement
  • Place the router in an open, central position and avoid obstacles like thick walls or metal surfaces
5. Limit background usage
  • Streaming, downloads, updates, or multiple connected users can heavily impact performance
  • Pause other activity and retest to isolate the cause
6. Check your router health
  • Older or entry-level routers can struggle to deliver full fibre speeds
  • If your router is a few years old, an upgrade can make a significant difference
7. Line profile and provisioning check
  • Speeds dropping this low can indicate a profile or line fault
  • This needs to be checked and reset from our side in partnership with Vuma Reach
You're welcome to send us a private message on this platform for any additional guidance or assistance.
We’d value the opportunity to get this resolved for you and ensure you’re receiving the quality connection you’re paying for.

Kind regards,
The Mweb Team
