Not Receiving the a service that I am being charged for - Terrrible Line Speed

Last night I was pinging at 444ms, down was 0.42mbps, up was 0.04mbps on an 8mb line.

That is an embarrassment all on it's own. Does anything else really need to be said?

I rent an 8mb ADSL line (Line and ISP from MWEB). Better is not available yet, this is the max that can be offered.

In the last 11 months or more, I have only run at about 6.5mb down for one month, the other 11 have been no where near an 8mb line.

Tickets are opened, then closed, the line runs okay for a day (well okay is at 4.5mbps usually), but it is never resolved properly. Telkom will get the blame, and yes, they are to blame too, but I rent the line from MWEB, I expect MWEB to sort it out (at least within a year).

Terrible that you waste money on a service that you are not receiving.

Good Day Marc,

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns.

Our customer care representative has tried making contact with you via telephone.

The line was syncing at 535kbps, before I restarted the provisioning on the Telkom portal. Thereafter, the sync speeds increased to 2215kbps.

Further line testing resulted in the following: "Possible DSL Physical-layer issue is detected.(Please check micro-filter,CPE/Router connections and indoor wiring)"

This points to a possible hardware issue.

Therefore, we need to troubleshoot with you; before we are able to log a line fault to Telkom.

I have arrange a Technical specialist call back for: Fri, 8 Dec 2017, 15:30

Please do confirm if you will be home during the provided time, in order for us to assist you.

We eagerly await your reply.

Kind regards
MWEB Client Services

Hi Thanks for the response, but It is like going in circles, I have been told it is hardware by you as a standard response for the past 11 months. Every singel time it was "fixed" (as in temporary for a few days), it was NEVER hardware.Three different routers later and reinstallation of inside wiring by Telkom and you are still using the same excuses. It is like living in a time loop. There is nothing wrong with my hardware nor the inside cabling, it is a Telkom line fault, you need to do your job and get Telkom to sort it out. The DSL error that you get on your side is because the router keeps dropping its sync because of the terrible line, so you pick it up as a possible hardware error. Stop the excuses and just get it fixed. 2mb is still not acceptable. It won't stay at 2mb either, I can guarantee that. Be honest, what can a person do with a 2mb line when you are in the IT Industry as well as your spouse running a business from home, please tell me? You can try contact me again now, trying to contact me once (which I could not take at the time) does not justify trying to contact me either. I am available right now.

Thanks for the feedback Southboyza.

If you would like us to log the fault for you, then we can go ahead and do so.

Please note, that if Telkom find fault with the hardware; they will bill you a call fee.

You have wasted enough of my time already. You are welcome to contact my wife who will be at the premises at 15h30 in order to troubleshoot. Her number is on your system, if not, when your consultant decides to phone me at 15h30, I can give them the number to phone.

Hi We were contacted, thank you, however, as I had said before, it didn't appear to be a hardware issue (enter the loop and cycle I spoke about before) and we were told that you will be creating a log with Telkom. Again, we rent our line from you, it is your responsibility to get this line sorted out, it was shocker over the weekend, ran at about 1mb. It is December, I worry about closing periods, a business runs over this ADSL line, we can't afford for this line not to be working. properly over December.

And once again, due to your terrible service, the line is completely down now. It has been running at 1.5mb for the week, now it is completely down. I have hear nothing more from MWEB. Your service really is disgusting!

Good Day Southboyza,

Thank you for your feedback.

The initial feedback from Telkom on the 11th, was that the issue may be cable related.

We have followed up with them this morning and await further feedback, as we can see the line syncing. The sync rates were at 237kbps this morning and is currently at 1534 kbps.

We are awaiting further feedback from Telkom.

Kind regards
MWEB Client Services.

MWEB, really, it is now the 18th Dec and the line is unusable still. Clearly you don't care about people using you as a service provider who run a business from home either. No more news from you regarding this line, are we going to be without a line for the holiday season when it is needed the most for personal use as well? Let me make it clear, I will not pay for a service that I am not receiving, I rent the line from MWEB, you need to get this sorted quickly or at least admit that you are not capable of doing your jobs and providing a service...

And to put the cherry on the cake, I received a bill today from you for an 8MB line that has been reported as not working properly (which you have clearly admitted, even above, 0.2MB line being charged at an 8MB rate). You need to reverse this!
