MWEB's deteriorating internet service
I’v e been with Mweb for several years as internet service provider. Their service used to be exceptionally good, and I recommended them to many friends and acquaintances. I have an ADSL Telkom line as part of my package. Whenever there was a problem Mweb sent you an sms stating that they’ve detected a problem, and are working on it. It was usually a Telkom problem. Alas, sometime last year this superlative service slumped. No more sms’s, and when I wanted to complain about intermittent service Mweb’s response was either No response, or severely delayed response. So what caused the change? My gut feeling is that it is combination of greed and obsession to flog fibre. Am I right? Yet they’re happy to accept my good monthly money. Now I’ve been without a functional Telkom line for virtually a week. I teach students mathematics and physics online and that is going to hell, as well as my income as pensioner. I reported the problem to Telkom, but I might as well have reported it to Hellcom. So I tried to phone Mweb, but they have a new trick – they have to send you a PIN. I tried at least 3 times, but with our ****py telephone systems the Pin arrived about 10 minutes late each time, making the exercise not feasible. So take note MWEB, if as my primary internet providers, you don’t pull finger quickly and assist me with my problem, I’m permanently done with you and I will find a more ethical service provider. I will also ensure that your response is widely advertised on social media. W A Richter.
