Mweb service when moving house
I have been all over the Mweb website looking for a way to contact them directly via email, but I cannot find such a facility. I moved house on 4/10/2024. I work from home, so it is important that I have fibre connection. A month before the move, I phoned Mweb to get them to explain to me exactly what I needed to do so that my fibre would be disconnected at the old house, and reconnected at the new house, both to happen on 5/10/2024. BE WARNED. If you phone them, be ready for a 30 minute wait before you get a person to speak to. At least it is a free call.
As directed, I completed their online form for the move. I phoned them again to make sure that I had completed the form correctly. They confirmed that all was in order.
Comes 5/10/2024, Mweb was very quick to disconnect fibre at the old house, 10 out of 10 for that one. But correctly guessed, there was no connection at the new house. Apparently the fault was not Mweb, but Vumatel, who had not made the connection. I got an SMS from Vumatel at 00h00 on the Sunday night 06/10/2024 to say the connection had been made.
Checked the fibre first thing Monday morning, no connection. Phoned Mweb. Same old 30min wait. Was told that there was a technical connection that they had to do, could take up to 3 DAYS!!?
I had a critical humour failure. Probably people 3 streets away could hear me. ALL respect and kudos to ***yidah, the unfortunate person on the other end of the phone, who promised me she would do all she could to expedite the issue. (I did also apologise to her.)
Evening of Monday, SMS from Mweb, connection has been made. Checked. No connection.
Tuesday morning, 8/10/2024, phoned Mweb. 30 min wait. Spoke to Brandon. It took a bit of time (apparently I needed a new IP address), but by about 11h30 fibre connection was eventually established.
Point of the sad and sorry tale? SOME people at Mweb are fantastic and very helpful, but the over all service delivery is absolutely shocking.
