MWeb preying on the elderly and technologically illiterate
<p>My dad bought us a family PC way back in 2003. Having absolutely no clue what to buy, he was 'assisted' by a salesman to buy a PC and sign-up for a 24month dial-up contract with MWeb. Mweb confirmed to me that the service has never been used and he's been paying the '24 month contract' for an internet diallup service for the last 13 years. Beeing such a low monthly debit-order, this debit order went unnoticed being below his notification trigger level. It's clear as daylight that there was no informed consent when my dad entered the contract with Mweb, and Mweb has been quietly collecting in excess of R20,000 from my dad without delivering any service. No communication, no call, no email, no letter. Nothing. This is **************** and preying on the elderly who are technologically illiterate. Shame on you! This is not treating customers fairly, goes against your company values - pure evil and borderline ********** in my honest opinion. I request you to act on his request for a refund for a service that you never delivered.</p>

"... this matter has now been addressed"... Shame on you MWeb! Your service consultant informed me that he does not want to speak to me on this matter and would only speak to the account holder. I can understand why, just like when your sales representative sold the deal to him you'd also rather speak to an uninformed pensioner than to me, an informed person that knows about contract law and what an internet service provider is and how to use it. This just proves my point - you never delivered any service to him and now you want to convince my poor old dad that he knew what he was signing. Pathetic!
