In February 2020 our home ADSL line broke and Telkom eventually told us after approx 2 weeks of asking them to repair the line that they were not going to repair it and that I must seek an alternative internet provider. Fibre cables have recently been installed in our street, I needed a short term solution to our internet problem before we could be connected to fibre. As Mweb were supplying our data on the Telkom ADSL line, I contacted them regarding their LTE service. I then signed up for their month to month LTE 220 gig package. This is one of the worst mistakes I could have made! Problems that I have encountered. 1. Mweb do not have an offices in East London so I have had to resort to telephone calls. 2. I have spend days on the phone firstly to make inquiries about their products and to order my month to month LTE data package and now to try to resolve the problems that I have experienced. 3. My sim card was delivered 3rd of March 2020 and after eventually setting up the router the data only lasted 1 day and a bit. The package was supposed to be a month to month 220 gig data package. As it turns out, the Telkom sim card that they sent me only had 200mb prepaid loaded on it!!!!!! 4. Since then I have made untold phone calls to MWeb to try sort out this problem. 5. I even visited the local Telkom store to get a data usage report that was required by Mweb. 6. Eventually MWeb said that they would do a Sim swop. The new SIM card eventually arrived on the 02nd of April 2020, to date it has not been activated notwithstanding the fact that there is a 24 to 72 hour turnaround policy. 7. In my most recent telephonic conversation with the MWeb call center I indicated that I would be cancelling my month to month contract with MWeb as they were not able to provide the service that had been paid for. Another problem I had was that they were using Telkom as their LTE service provider. This was one of the reasons that I switched service providers. The service agent that I spoke to said that I would be liable to pay one month's notice!!!! This for a service that they cannot supply. This is totally unacceptable.
Please do you homework before signing up with MWeb. It has cost me a fortune on data and now during lockdown I am finding it very difficult to conduct my business from home without reliable and affordable internet service provider.
