Mweb is horrible
Last year2025 mweb contacted me saying the service(mtn) im using with them wont be available in my area and i need to change or cancel. I decided to look at options with them and found telkom lte and it covered my area perfectly. Did coverage check too. Signed up for new service and cancelled the old service. January 2026 new service is active at discount price of R449 for 3 months. Ok cool. Then march i get the invoice for R549 which is new price. Still okay. Then april price increase to R579. I dont have issue with increase though bt since i started the new service i have had endless connectivity issues. 1 cellphone connected cant even get 5mbps. Mind you i signed up for a 20mbps line. We are 4 at home yet always struggle to even watch a movie. Its been ridiculous and now im paying for a service i have no use off as its always disconnecting. I dont mind paying bt then the service should be active and we should be able to atleast connect to the internet without issues. Im using more mobile data which is more money out of pocket where im paying for something i cant use. Using the chat facility on the app is useless as i held on earlier almost an hour without assistance.
We understand how disappointing and frustrating it is to move to a new service with clear expectations, only to experience ongoing connectivity issues that affect your household’s ability to use the internet as intended. Paying for a 20 Mbps service and struggling to even stream or browse reliably, while also having to rely on mobile data, understandably places added strain on you.
We’ve checked on our side and do not see any visible faults or outages currently affecting the service. To help improve the speeds and stability, we recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps, which are aligned with Telkom’s guidance for LTE services:
Step 1: SIM refresh
While the router is powered on, remove the SIM card.
Leave it out for 15 seconds, then reinsert it.
Reboot the router and test the speed again.
Step 2: Router positioning
If speeds remain low:
Move the router to a higher position or closer to a window.
At each location, leave the router there for 5 to 10 minutes.
Perform a speed test and note the results.
Please test at least three different spots in the home.
Step 3: Force the network to 4G
If results are still poor:
Connect to the router via WiFi or Ethernet.
Open a browser and go to 192.168.0.1
Log in using the password admin
Switch LTE from ON to OFF
Click Settings under LTE
Select Network Selection
Change from Automatic to 4G
Click Apply
Return to the main page and switch LTE from OFF to ON
For accurate testing, please ensure only one device is connected during speed tests and that you are standing directly next to the router.
If the speeds remain unusable after completing the above steps, please send us a direct message on Hello Peter with your speed test results and findings, and we’ll gladly continue assisting.
Kind regards,
Mweb Team
