Mweb internet service is disappointing

I signed up for uncapped wifi Fibre, 2 months ago. Fibre is provided by VumaTell (VT). It's been a problem since. We have to use data as it drops all the time. Now mweb is telling me to find a computer that will accept the Fibre cord that normally goes from (VT) Fibre box, to mweb router and connect it to my laptop instead of router for them to check what the problem is, as they are battling to sort it from their side. This will allow them to see if it's their issue or VTiss. Problem is, it doesn't fit into any laptop. So now, we are expected to find a laptop, older than my 8yr old one to do this or pay R1700 for VT to come solve problem. My issue is, why would the use old cords that computers stopped using 15yrs ago. We now only have ports that accept usb's not the old thing that had Fibre plastic and a lip kind of thing you had put press down to get it in the computer or pull it out. Where am I supposed to find this person, with such a computer? Why is that my problem. Am I still expected to pay? For what exactly when service is unavailable. How do we protect our hard earned income from such shoddy service?
