MWeb going from poor to horrible in 3 months
We contacted MWeb to install fibre internet and a voip phone service for a 90 year old gentleman in a retirement village in September 2020.
The fibre was installed fairly quickly, but they began to charge him before it was activated. Eventually they had to come out again to fix certain connections and the service was activated after a few weeks. It took a long and unpleasant fight to get the refund for the period that the service was not active.
However, the voip phone is still not active. Since we app****, they confirmed numerous times that it was in progress and that porting of the Telkom number was in progress. Then, after the Telkom number had been terminated at the end of October, they admitted that they were mistaken and that they never app**** for porting. Now a 90 year old gentleman must get a new number which is very traumatic for him.
Be it as it may, they have not reacted to numerous pleas to activate it with a new number (even though they started charging for the voip phone weeks ago). The MWeb voip service, sales and customer complaints are all ingnoring mails and messages for weeks now and also refuse to give us their CEO's contact details.
Since it is becoming a life threatening situation for a 90 year old man to be without a phone, we are now considering legal action.
It is mind boggling to even try and understand how an organisation like MWeb can be so unprofessional and uncaring even towards elderly people.
The way I feel at the moment is to advise anyone to stay away from them as far as you can and rather use alternative suppliers.
