MWeb fibre offering unstable / slow

After having looked forward for years to a fast internet connection, we were quick to sign up when fibre became available in our area through Vumatel.

We initially took out the 100MBPS download and 10MBPS upload package from Mweb as that was already our ISP. When it was all installed we tested the line and did not get to more than 50 MBPS. I then enquired and was told by a MWeb expert that the router Mweb provides with the package does not cater for the 100MBPS download speed. Although I feel this is pretty close to selling under false pretences, we decided not to make an issue out of it and simply downgrade to a 50/5 package with a 200GB cap.

All worked out fine other than that the connection is just not stable and degrades down to less than 1MBPS download sped on a frequent basis and we end up having to reset the fibre box and the router multiple times a week to get back to what we are actually paying for namely 50/5 MBPS.

MWeb is very quick to take our money but clearly delivery is not something they care quite as much about.

Good Day Koster,

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns.

Our customer care representatives have since been in contact with you.

The speed issue you have raised only occurs when connecting to the router via a wireless connection. You obtained the 100Mbps and 50Mbps while connecting to the router via a cable connection.

This illustraits that you were capable of obtaining the speed linked to the package you were on.

We have now logged a technical Specialist call back for you, in order to troubleshoot your wireless connectivity.

Please bear with us during this time.

kind regards
MWEB Client Services
