MWEB: FALSE ADVERTISING & NON-EXISTENT SERVICE DELIVERY
I ordered a fiber connection for my home almost a month ago and was told it would take up to 2 weeks for the fiber to be installed.
Never was I informed that there are multiple "phases" to the fiber installation and that the above mentioned "installation" is not a complete installation; nor was I told that the "phases" following could also take an additional 2-4 weeks.
This is ridiculous service delivery and false advertising!
After spending hours on the phone trying to get hold of a MWEB consultant; having the line dropped once I do get a hold of anyone; requesting a call back that never realises; and finally having to call back again, I had to figure out the installation process by myself.
Finally, this morning a technician contacted me and requested I do a "broadband" connection before they are able to escalate my connection failure. I am not able to do so, since my laptop does not allow for a direct connection with a LAN port. The technician had the audacity, to suggest "I borrow someone else's computer" to establish the connection!
After explaining it to the technician that the installation is MWEB's responsibility, he stated that this would require them to send out their subcontractor (SADV) to check the issue and then charge me an "unnecessary call-out fee" of over a thousand Rand!
To be frank, I requested and ordered a fiber wireless connection with MWEB. I don't care who MWEB uses to do their installations and who SADV is. I have a contract and order placed with MWEB. MWEB needs to install my fiber so that I am able to connect wirelessly to it and use it. What ever they need to do is up to them. I ordered a complete product, not a half-installed-may-need-to-send-someone-out-and-charge-you-additionally service!
It's been more than 3 weeks and I still do not have a fiber connection. I have spent more than necessary airtime to call and get through to MWEB, with no results to show.
Someone needs to come to my house, when it suits ME and sort this out.
I will test the wireless connection using MY laptop when the technician is present and only when I am satisfied and able to use the fiber connection, will I start paying for the service.
I am not willing to pay any additional charges for installation since the order placed, very clearly included a FREE INSTALLATION.
