MWEB Cancellation a P.I.T.A - There are FAR better ISP's out there!
Cancelling my ADSL subscription was beyond annoying. I've have been a long time customer and have even reccomended Mweb in the past, but no longer.
So, despite contacting their call centre 3 times, being on call waiting for over an hour in total and chatting with the cancellation agent for over 30mins I had not received any feedback or confirmation that my cancellation request had been received. So I was left with no option but to contact their ONLY available email address : *** - where I did get a fairly prompt response.
They have stuck to the corporate line of "The cancellation of your entire account # 6******2 is subject to a calendar months’ notice, with your service expiring on 31 March 2024."
Initially, I reported a fault on my adsl line to Mweb in late January and received none of the promised feedback on the issue. It was resolved by Openserve (the adsl & voice line provider). Openserve however were pretty pro-active and performed a free fibre upgrade to keep me connected.
However, in the time it took to get the fibre line installed the next month had started. So I will be billed for 8 weeks of adsl service I will not use. I was fine with the remainder of February, but March as well?
Contractually, Mweb has the right to contune billing till end of March, but to me it seems very, very short sighted that their approach is to gouge the last cents out of a loyal customer and ensure they never, ever return or reccomend their dis-service to anyone.
