MWEB - A Waste of Time & Money

Why don't they enable an option of no stars. Cannot get to speak to a representative. Currently waiting on a Cal for 01:49:08 and still haven't got through. Cost of service just rising and the service I signed up for just keeps getting bumped up to the higher packages. Got. 100Mb/s package but initially signed up for 50Mb/s. Ran a test and getting 41Mb/s. They are just uninterested. They have a fair market share so they don't give a damn. What a pity. They used to be a good service. Let's hope they follow DSTV down the tube for greed.

Hello  Caliway. We hear your frustration, especially around the long hold time nearing 2 hours, the feeling of not being able to reach a real person, and the disappointment that your current 100Mbps Metrofibre service is only testing around 41Mbps. When you’re paying for an upgrade, consistency and transparency matter, and we understand why this feels like a drop in both service and trust. On the speed concern specifically, here are focused expert checks for Metrofibre lines that often explain lower-than-expected results: • Test via Ethernet cable directly into the router (WiFi can reduce speeds significantly)
 • Reboot both the ONT and router to refresh the session after package changes
 • Ensure no background downloads or cloud syncs are running during the test
 • Check if your router WAN port is negotiating at 1Gbps (not 100Mbps)
 • Run multiple speed tests at different times of day to check for congestion patterns
 • If using WiFi, switch to 5GHz and test within close range of the router

A result of ~41Mbps on a 100Mbps line usually indicates either WiFi limitation, device bottleneck, or a provisioning/profile mismatch on the Metrofibre side, which can be corrected once confirmed. We also hear the broader concern around accessibility and long call queues. That experience should not leave you stuck waiting without support, and your feedback around this is being noted for service improvement focus areas.

Kind regards,
The Mweb Team
