Misleading Pricing – R549 Turns Into R699 After Ordering

Mweb advertised a 60 Mbps down / 30 Mbps up fibre package for R549 per month. That’s the price that caught my attention and led me to click Order.

However, only after scrolling through the fine print did I see the message: “Save R150pm up to 4 months. Thereafter R699pm.”

This is misleading. The actual monthly cost is R699, not R549 — and that’s only made clear after the order process has already started. The way it’s presented, the R549 appears to be the standard price, when it’s actually just a short-term promotion.

This kind of advertising feels dishonest and deceptive. I nearly signed up thinking I’d be paying R549 per month long-term.

I strongly urge Mweb to be more transparent and upfront by displaying both the promotional and regular prices clearly from the beginning — not hidden in the fine print. Honesty builds trust.
