Check your fibre download speed you are paying for compared to what you are actually receiving
I have been paying Mweb Fibre R869-00 p/m for a 75 Mbps line for the last few years. Only to see I am only getting about 15 - 25 Mbps out of the deal.
Logged a service request last week but they are not responding to any time of feedback communication.

30 Mar 2026, 10:54Dear Anton. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We completely understand the frustration of paying for a 75 Mbps connection and only receiving 15–25 Mbps. Reliable and consistent speeds are fundamental to the service we provide, and your concern is important to us.
To assist you, here are some expert tips to improve your fibre speed:
- Direct Connection:
- Whenever possible, connect your device directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. Wired connections consistently provide the highest speeds compared to Wi-Fi.
- Router Placement and Interference:
- Ensure your router is placed centrally in your home, elevated, and away from walls or electronic devices that could interfere with the signal.
- Avoid placing it near microwaves, cordless phones, or other devices that may cause Wi-Fi interference.
- Device Management:
- Limit simultaneous heavy usage across multiple devices. Streaming, online gaming, or large downloads on multiple devices can reduce speeds for individual devices.
- Router Performance:
- Occasionally, reboot your router to refresh your connection.
- Ensure your router firmware is up to date, as updates often include performance enhancements.
- Check for Background Usage:
- Applications running in the background (cloud backups, updates, or automatic downloads) can impact your available bandwidth. Monitor and manage these to prioritise active tasks.
- Wi-Fi Band Selection:
- If your router supports dual-band Wi-Fi, use the 5 GHz band where possible for devices close to the router. It is faster and experiences less interference than 2.4 GHz.
We are committed to restoring your expected performance and will remain here via private message for any further support.
Kind regards,
