Charged for “Damage” I Was Never Told About After Weeks Without Internet

I have had ongoing fibre issues with MWEB for weeks, including long periods with no internet at all, constant follow-ups, and repeated escalations just to get basic service restored.

Now, after all of this, I have been billed R862.50 for a “Frogfoot callout – access route damaged” — something I was never informed about, never approved, and have zero knowledge of.

At no point:

Did any technician explain that there was damage Did MWEB inform me that I would be charged Did anyone get my consent for a billable callout

After weeks of service failure and escalation, I assumed any technician visit was to fix their service issue, not to quietly add charges to my account afterward.

This is unacceptable.

You cannot:

Fail to deliver service Keep a customer offline for extended periods Then add unexplained charges without communication

This feels like billing first and explaining later — if at all.

Hi Peter, thank you for outlining your concerns in detail. We understand your frustration regarding the prolonged service interruptions, the repeated follow-ups, and the unexpected callout charge you have received without prior explanation or consent. This is understandably upsetting, especially given the ongoing service issues you’ve already experienced. We want to confirm that this matter has been escalated to our complaints team for full review. They will investigate the service history, the technician visit, and the associated billing to ensure clarity on what was communicated, what was authorised, and whether the charge was app**** correctly. Once their investigation is complete, they will provide you with a formal response and the next steps. Kind regards,
 Mweb Team
