Can we as customers trust Mweb call centre support?
My Fibre line was destroyed during the horrific storm over the Western Cape on Saturday 9 - 11 May. I called Mweb on Monday morning, i waited 1hr20 minutes in the queue to speak to someone. Eventually got to speak to a lady by the name of Roshaan. She asked me which lights were on at the fibre box, she instructed me to replace my power cable to my router with the original cable and threatened that should I require a technician to come out it would be at my own cost a charge! I insisted that the problem was not on my side. She gave me a reference number MWB***0, then the call appeared to get cut off! With no fibre connection nor internet, I called again on Thursday 14 May, once again the wait was nearly 1 hour (the call centre informs you that you're number one in the support queue for about 40-50 minutes!!! (I require Mweb to please explain how this can be so, as it makes the queuing system completely ineffective and *************). this time I spoke to a very rude person by the name of Enver. I requested that Enver provide his surname, he bluntly refused and rep**** that he is under no obligation to provide such detail, I desperately requested that should we be cut-off I would appreciate a return call - he one again bluntly rep**** that they receive calls and do not make calls! (Given the fact that the wait in the call queue, at the client's cost is sooo long, is this I such like to know whether this is Mweb's policy?) The exchange with Enver was **********, his attitude was accusatory and condescending. He pretty much made it seem as if I was doing something wrong and that the problem was my fault. He informed me that an Open Serve technician had repaired the cable problem, and that they had tried to get hold of me! this is a blatant lie! I subsequently check with both my neighbours on either side of my property! They were both down! (I had initially recommended Mweb to both of them). One of them has apparently had a similar experience and has decided to cancel her Mweb contract, the other, still does not have his connection restored - 25 May 2026)!!! I shall appreciate Mweb's response to this! This call happened at about 7:30pm, Thursday evening, the call cut off suspiciously at 8pm (which I understand is the call centre closing time. I shall like for Mweb management to listen to the call (should be under the same reference number as I shall be interested to hear their opinion. I called again on Friday morning and spoke to a lady whose name I dd not get, I was told that the technician had come out and that the cable had been repaired. While I was on the call I went outside and the technician was actually there, he had just started on the repair which took at least another 2 hours, After I had been told that the cable was already repaired. This suggested that there is a misrepresentation between the Mweb call centre and the reality being communicated to us clients! I am waiting for my cellphone account to calculate the direct wasted telephone cost, and this does not include the data and the alternate internet costs that I have incurred, not to mention the loss production revenue caused as I work from home. Can we trust Mweb’s - Call Centre? Can we depend on Mweb for support? Are we as clients being marginalized? My cell We hear and see many similar stories, what is Mweb going to do about this???
