*******

I was thinking of changing my fibre provider and saw Mweb had a service available at a good rate. Logged on and requested a quote. After numerous sms's from Mweb to come and install, I ignored as I just wanted a quote and see if they where in my area. I have tried calling Mweb and been on hold for 20 minutes plus and encouraged to use the online which doesn't work. I see they have just debited me for R249 on the 2 April without any service provider. To me this is theft and am wanting my R249 back.

Hi Craig,
We understand how concerning it is to see a debit go through when you were only requesting a quote and never intended to proceed with installation or service activation. That situation would understandably feel unfair and distressing.
We’ve reviewed the account and can confirm that the R249 charge has already been credited. In addition, we’ve requested our Finance Team to log a refund to the banking details you provided. Once the refund is processed, the amount should reflect in your account within 5 to 7 working days.
If you need any further assistance or would like to follow up, please feel free to reach out to us via a private message on Hello Peter, and we’ll be happy to assist.
Kind regards,
Mweb Team

Ok Mweb...why have you debited my cheque account again with another R249 on the 29th March???? What the f@#$ is wrong with your systems that you run another debit order. I spoke to a gentleman namely Jonathan who said it was mistake on your part. The thing that frustrates me is calling into your company, get asked all sorts of question to verify its me, then must wait 20 minutes and whilst the other gent is fathering why there has been another debit order on the 29th, puts me through to sales and I get cut off. Then I must call again, do clearance and wait another 20 minutes, as I am number 3 in the que, or I can do my enquiry online to www....which doesn't work! Eventually Jonathan answered and said it was a mistake on your part and I must wait for 3-4 days for a refund??? REALLY!

Hi Craig,
We’d like to clarify why you are still receiving SMS notifications regarding an outstanding balance on your Mweb account. Our records show that the original debit order of R249, submitted to your bank on 2 April, was unsuccessful. The debit was subsequently reversed on 16 May, which indicates that the payment was disputed and returned to you by your bank. After this, Mweb also processed a refund to you, meaning that the R249 was not received by Mweb, while the amount was also refunded to you. This resulted in the R249 remaining outstanding on the account. We then attempted to recover the outstanding R249 by submitting another debit order on 29 May, but this payment was also unsuccessful and was subsequently reversed. As the R249 has therefore not been received by Mweb, the amount remains outstanding on the account. This is why the system continues to send SMS notifications advising you of the arrears. We hope this provides a clearer explanation of the account history and why the SMS notifications are still being generated.Kind regards,
The Mweb Team
