Billing when there's no service

Around the middle of November, I cancelled my MWEB account because I've been experiencing increasing lacking of ADSL connectivity. While I understand the infrastructure is owned by Telkom, I expect MWeb as my service provider to sort out the issue.

Anyway, I received an invoice for the cancellation period. I wrote back saying I should not receive a bill as I have no service. They responded by resending the invoice (bill). I wrote back again to reiterate my message. They rep**** informing me that the Terms indicate a 30 day notice period.

Clearly, the people in billing CANNOT read.

Their technical people were helpful during the time I was with MWEB but their billing department cannot understand that I should not have to pay when I am not receiving a service. I accept the 30 day notice period under normal circumstances, but if there is no ADSL service, why should I pay for it ????

I am unlikely to choose MWEB when I move to Fibre as their recent service has left me unimpressed !!!

Good Day clivee

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns.

Our Customer care representative has since been in contact with you.

We found that Telkom closed the fault stating that the issue is with your equipment. Unfortunately, you chose to close the fault before a Technician could confirm what the route cause was.

Therefore, the initial response from our billing team was in order with our processes. You would be liable for the calendar months notice period.

We have now presented you with alternate options, hopefully the outcome is to your satisfaction.

Kind regards
MWEB Client Services
