Bad service

I am extremely frustrated with the ongoing internet outages. I pay for my Mweb service every month, yet almost every month we experience outages lasting a day or two, and I have to spend my own money on mobile data to stay connected. I have already spent over R500 on data because of these outages. What makes this even more frustrating is that if there is not enough money in my account when the debit order goes through, I am charged a reconnection fee, despite the fact that I am already paying for a service that is repeatedly unavailable. Now, once again, we have had no internet since 18:00 today. I wanted to work this evening, but I cannot because of the outage. I was also told that Mweb only compensates customers if the internet is unavailable for at least 7 days. Please explain why repeated outages of one or two days are not considered when I am still paying the full monthly fee and incurring additional costs because of the service interruptions. I would like this matter escalated and I would like Mweb to review the additional costs I have incurred, including the R500+ I have spent on mobile data and any reconnection fees charged as a result of these outages.

Hello Asanda,

We understand how frustrating it must be to experience repeated connectivity interruptions, particularly when you rely on the service for work and have incurred additional costs on mobile data to remain connected. This is certainly not the experience we want for our customers. While we always strive to provide the best possible service, unfortunately 100% uptime cannot be guaranteed. We'd also like to clarify that downtime credits are generally considered only where a fault is logged with the network provider and exceeds their standard 7 working day resolution timeframe.Based on the information you've provided, the issue appears to relate to the stability of the connection. To help improve the connection and reduce the likelihood of future interruptions, please try the following:

Using a computer connected via WiFi or Ethernet cable:
  • Open your internet browser
  • Enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  • Login using the password: admin
  • Switch LTE from ON to OFF
  • Select Settings
  • Select APN
  • Select Manual
  • Select Add New
Create the following profile:
  • Profile Name: MWEB
  • PDP Type: IPv4
  • IPv4 APN: mweb
  • Authentication: None
Then:
  • Select Apply
  • Select the new profile and choose Set as Default
  • Select Network Selection
  • Change the setting from Automatic to 4G
  • Click Apply
  • Switch LTE from OFF to ON
Once completed, please test the connection and monitor its stability.

If the intermittent connectivity continues, please let us know:
  • Whether the issue occurs at specific times of the day
  • What colour the network light is on the router when the connection drops
This will help us determine the next steps and investigate further if required.
Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to continue engaging with via direct, and we'll gladly assist.

Kind regards,
Mweb Team
