A month later with no resolution in sight

On the 28th of July I logged a fault with Mweb due to my ADSL connection disconnecting intermittently. Now, since I often need to work from home and require a stable internet connection to do so, I’m sure that a personal loss of revenue can be appreciated as worthy of a problem which needs urgent attention and fixing.

On the 6th of August a Telkom technician shows up, said he tested the exchange and that there were no faults on my line.

I told him that the issue is intermittent disconnections and that it seems to have escalated since the last few days when it rains. Asked him to test the physical Telkom box (is that what you call it?) on the pole at the back, to which he tells me that he guarantees there is no physical issue (without even checking).

The next day it just gets worse.

I then contact Mweb on the 8th who re-opens the fault and have since then received zero communication from Mweb or Telkom without me having to first ask for feedback.

In the last 2 weeks, my request was apparently escalated and then escalated again (because I had to once again request that my issue be dealt with), and I even got an sms to say that a Telkom technician has been assigned (this was on the 24th).

I have spoken to numerous people at Mweb and have made a note of each one’s name. I will however not divulge that as they were doing their job and I hold nothing against them.

Since 12am on the 23rd, my ADSL connection has dropped 63 times. I wonder how many disconnects I’ve had since the 28th?

Just to mention, though; on the 11th, I spoke to a consultant (whose name I have recorded) and was advised by her that Mweb will reimburse/compensate me for the time since the 28th of July that my line was dropped/unavailable. I expect then that Mweb will credit my account with whatever the amount tallies to?

The problem I face is in part Mweb and part Telkom, however, since Mweb bills me for my ADSL line, I am at their doorstep asking that this matter be resolved.

Telkom have been paid their monies, and Mweb are due to debit my bank account soon…and yet, here I am, without a reliable internet connection.
