I have had 4 contracts with MTN for my whole family for more than 5 years. In Jan 2015 my employer transferred me to Paris, France for a 3 year period.

I gave notice to MTN by email on 7 Dec 2014 for 3 of the 4 contracts that expired on the 19 Feb 2015. MTN responded on 10 Dec 2014 that I should advise them if I want permanent deactivation or prepaid migration.

Based on this advice I decided on prepaid migration and advised MTN (as per their recommendation) by email on the 21st Feb 2015. However, I noticed end of March 2015 that all 3 account's contract amounts are still being deducted from my account.

I tried to call MTN on +27 83 1808, but this number is not reachable from outside SA. I therefore send another email to [Email Removed] on 26 March instructing MTN to convert the 3 contracts to pre-paid and refund the amounts deducted end of March.

So far I have had no response from MTN. In fact, the last 2 emails to [Email Removed] went unanswered It is very frustrating to try and resolve these issues from overseas when toll-free numbers are not accessible, and MTN don't respond to emails.

Ettienne Gilbert
Paris, France
