Worst service ever

Hi good day I opened a cellphone contract by mtn in 2019 a few payments went of and I lost my job I started this year by a new job and I'm permanent so I tried calling mtn to arrange payments on my account when I phoned they told me the account is with legal and when I phoned legal they said mtn took the account back and mtn can't tell me where the account is which is a major problem I've tried everything this far to get ahold of my account its been 10 months now that I'm trying to find my account if anyone out there that can help me I'll highly appreciate it
