Worst customer service in history of time.

A while back, at Menlyn Shopping Centre, my cellphone was ****** out of my jacket pocket. I immediately noticed and phoned MTN from my husband's phone to block the sim card. The lady at the call centre reassured me that no calls nor sms' could be sent nor received on this number from now on and that it is completely blocked. She advised me that I would need to do a sim swop and unblock the sim card first thing the next morning. I did exactly that. I went to the MTN store in Cradlestone Mall. I explained my situation and they did a sim swop. "This may take up to 48 hours" were their famous words when I enquired as to why my phone is not working. Turns out they opened my old (******) sim card instead of actually doing a sim swop and ****ing the ****** sim. Somehow (I never knew you could actually do this until it happened to me) the ******* managed to take my TopUp account (only by dialing a simple *141*something#) and make it an open contract. Which they ******ed to the maximum by making international calls, sending data and airtime to other numbers - all while I'm so patiently waiting for my sim swop to be activated and my sim to be unblocked.

Firstly. How can any reputable (don't know how I can use MTN and reputable company in the same sentence) company allow changes to a signed contract without as much as a courtesy call to verify the account holder? Anyway. Besides the point.

After screaming, shouting, having my bank accounts frozen due to OTP and pins being sent to my supposedly blocked sim, crying and having to speak to over 12 of those useless (and extremely RUDE) "consultants", having our lines cut 3 times (because the ******* accumulated a bill of over R6000 on my TOPUP ACCOUNT WITH A MAXIMUM CREDIT LIMIT OF R3000), we managed to get the sim swop done.

The lady who assisted me at the MTN branch at Cradlestone Mall (very nice and helpful), opened a ***** case and reassured me that it will be sorted out.

I am currently receiving threats of legal action from MTN due to non payment of the R6000.00 even though we have paid what we are supposed to each month on time. Our lines are being cut 2-3 times a month and I have to explain this sad story 2-3 times a month to get them to reopen the lines. I ask, in the past 3 months no one from the ***** devision even contacted me. Is there no way I can cancel these contracts with MTN due to them not delivering the service I am paying for? I feel extremely ******ed and I am honestly on the verge of getting a lawyer involved (not that I think that will even help).

I have grown to absolutely dispise this company and I have run out of ways to deal with this situation. I would appreciate any assistance or advise on as to how I can get out of this contract and not be held hostage by this corporate monster anymore.

Thank you for your post.
We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
There is a note on the system for a credit note of R2777.97 for the invoice dated 13/06/2016 to be passed into your MTN account.
Your total outstanding bill is R8400.98. You still need to pay R5623.01.
Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.
Regards
Thabelo
