Why wasnt I personally advised with an SMS by MTN about the Sim Swap/Airtime *****
I was not aware of the 'sim swap' ****, hence I am now the victim of a **** where my airtime was ****** under the guise that someone else had requested a sim swap on my number. To which I fell prey to! I notice MTN claim they are making their subscribers aware of this. My question is how are they making their customers aware. As a customer shouldn't I have received a direct message (SMS, Whatsapp, email, anything from MTN advising ME personally to be aware of this type of **** currently happening? It is after all their responsibility to ensure their customers are kept informed, are they not?
Also when I called MTN to explain what had happened they couldn't help, but gave me a '*****' number to call which I did and was told they only deal with internal *****. I called MTN again and again they provided me with the same number. When I explained to the agent that this number is incorrect they just said that this is the number they have been advised to give to customers. With this experience happening I ask myself whether MTN actually want their customers to know about this and whether they want to hear from their customers about this. The fact that I am now out of pocket, does not seem to be an issue for MTN.
