Why I'm leaving MTN after 21 years
Long struggle very short, we had a contract with MTN, struggled 8 times over 5 months to upgrade (never receiving a valid reason we can't, just always "There's something blocking the progress. We'll escalate it to a supervisor." and then nothing until we call again weeks later. We asked them to cancel when the contract expired, which they did and the number went on to pre-paid. All of a sudden we received notifications (verified MTN legit as it is the same details as previously when we had the contract) that we must pay them a new, higher amount for a new contract.
I called them and spent 29 minutes, 16 seconds speaking to 8 different people (getting transferred over and over...Cust. Care - Contracts - Collections (who claimed apparent technical issues after I explained my problem...Technically f__ki__ lazy yes) - Cust. Care - Post Paid - Contracts - Pre-paid - Collections) with nobody 'being able to assist'. The Contracts department looked into our details and confirmed that we had no active contract with MTN and a 0 (zero) balance outstanding. The call ended with the eighth person flat out refusing to assist.
How is it that I received better service (and signal for that matter) from MTN 21 or even 10 years ago when technology has improved SO much over the last decade and especially over the last couple of years...Absolutely Pathetic. PS: A great minority of your so-called 'service champions' are actually quite knowledgeable and provide proper service, although your systems prevent them from being able to assist mostly, but you seriously need to invest in better training and vetting people properly for dealing with your clients.
