Where are MTN's ethics.

I have been trying since early on Monday 6th of February 2023 to cancel an MTN contract (Ph ***). I received an SMS at 09h59 on Monday 6th of February saying the contract was set for cancellation on the 6th of February. My wife went to the local MTN store in Plettenberg Bay on the 7th February and was told the cancellation had been effected, and I was to go in with the sim card and the sim would be changed to a PAYG. I went to the Plettenberg Bay store this morning 8th February and was told that in fact, the cancellation had not been effected. The reason being that the contract was classed as business and could not be handled by phoning 135 and asking for cancellations. The young lady in the store, Amanda, was very helpful, but the bottom line is Contract Not Yet Cancelled. Apparently the consultants at 135 have to pass on the request to the business section. well after 5 tries on Monday and several this morning, with the help of Amanda (the in-store helper), the so called business section does not answer the phone or is unavailable or simply cuts you off when explaining the situation. So much for MTN service. It is as though MTN are deliberately putting obstacles in your way to prevent you cancelling a contract. I feel as though I am being "Black Mailed" by MTN to keep the contract, and, for the record, I do not intend paying for a Contract that should have been cancelled. Altogether a lousy experience form a lousy service provider, and there is still no resolution as of 11h30 today.
