What is MTN doing about *****?
I have been a loyal customer of MTN for 6 years now and the service I have received the last 6 months is apalling to say the least.
1. In January I discovered that my data contract had been upgraded without my knowledge. After some fighting I discovered this was done so **********ly. The passport of the perpetrator was laughable.... the lettering was not clear, signatures were quite different and it had 2 different passport numbers in it... yet the application was processed. I reported this case to MTN as i suspected it was an inside job (I am a Zimbabwean National and the lady who processed the application instore is also Zimbabwean) but this was brushed aside. The store in question was Pan African Junction. I was forced to cancel the data contract as MTN said they could not put me back on my previous package so it was of no use to me.
2. In April I received an SMS regarding an application I had made. This was done at MTN Nicolway. I called 808 quickly and managed to block this upgrade.
3. On the 15th of July 2018, 1 day after I had returned from Zimbabwe i received an sms regarding a change in my payment details. I called 808 and discovered my MTN pin had also been changed, on Thursday 12 July (While I was in Zimbabwe with no roaming). The lady I spoke to insisted I made the call, but anyway fastforward to the 17th of July, I received my MTN bill and it stated that I had app**** and had been approved for an additional cellphone. This was done on the 8th of July (while I was in Zimbabwe), and at MTN Nicolway in Johannesburg.
The question now is what is MTN doing to protect my personal information? Is the staff trained to identify security features on Identity documents? What is the point of submitting Identity documents when applying for contracts if they are not used in the vetting process for any subsequent applications? Please answer because I am well and truly tired.
