What does one need to do to receive an upgrade?

After being hounded to upgrade by MTN callers, I signed up for an upgrade on the 12 August and still have not received the new phone. Eventually after hours of phone calls, DSV attempted to deliver it, their finger print scanner didn’t work and they took the phone back with them and we are back to square 1. Why stay with MTN????
