What am I waiting for?
On Sunday 3/12/17 I visited the MTN store in the new Whale Coast Mall. I attempted to sign a 24 month sim-only My Choice M contract. Upon the lengthy completion of security questions and documents signed I was told that “this deal is not on my system” it needs to be sent to head office for approval. However, this deal is clearly still available online so I don’t understand the issue. Regardless, I was told I will receive an sms to say whether my application was approved the following day. I did not. Neither did I the next day. Subsequently I went back to the store to go and pick up my documents so that I could apply elsewhere for a contract. On Wednesday 6/12/17 I finally received an sms so say my contract was provisionally approved and an agent will phone me. To date, no agent has phoned me. So on Friday 8/12/17 I went back to the store for a THIRD time that week. Here I was blatantly **** to. The lady told me she could not look up my details seeing as Charl, at the Durbanville branch handled by application. But how is that possible when the computer that logged by application was on right in front of her? Surely any MTN emloyee can look up an application? She phoned Charl and he updated her on my case. I was told my number is in the process of being ported, this will happen tomorrow (Saturday) at the latest and I can come and pick up my sim card. How would she know this if neither her, nor Charl on the other end had even looked into my application’s progress? All she said was “the network is very busy”. It takes time. Yet no-one has bothered to contact me and I have had to visit your store 3 times this week for a simple sim only contract? Needless to say, my number did not port today. So I am still a Vodacom customer. The irony is, I app**** online (successfully, bar documents that had to be uploaded) for the Black Friday R199 wifi deal of 30GB that had to be cancelled due to this new application. Now MTN is losing out on R199 + R469 per month. Get it together MTN. How hard can it be to issue a sim? I’ve never had to return to a store for a cellphone contract. Cell C here I come.
