WASP + Service Provide = ****

Hi Peter

I want to start by refering everyone to this news release

https://waspa.org.za/press_release/mtncell-c-launch-double-opt-in-system-for-wasps/

dated on the 10th of December 2013, this article specifically mention that MTN and CELLC has implemented a double opt in system for all WASPs.

This is my story of not knowing how and why my airtime just vaporizes, for months, I would just recharge my pay as you go with R100, and I would not remember using it that much, but I will be out of airtime, then more recharge, until recently I got a little too suspicious and started testing by recharging only R30, and lo and behold, it disappeared so quickly.

I tried the USSD service of MTN to check whether I had anything, nothing appeared, I then went on to contact MTN customer care, the lady that answered the call mentioned that I had a WASP of GAMELOFT deducting R4.99 per day from my account, now that I know why, I wanted to query how it got loaded. According to double opt in, I had to get a SMS which I need to approve / accept, I asked to be transfered to a supervisor, only to have her tell me that I can't have anything done about it, I insisted, and then I was transfered to Terrence, whom after some grilling, said that double opt in was only for MTN WASPs (totally different to the news release). I therefore grilled him further, he mentioned he will get back to me and this is now day 10 with no response.

MTN has firstly, no idea what a double opt in is, then they deny, then they spin, this is simply disgusting, I will also be contacting the NCC as well as ASA, I am sure, the news release will constitute false advertising, and I as a consumer should have reasonable grounds to expect that I am protected by double opt in which I obvisouly was not.

Everyone beware, and please stand up for your rights, we just might win this battle together!
