Violation of the POPIA- Unhappy

I feel ****med. When my cellphone contract ended, I was contacted and offered an upgrade, which I clearly declined. I specifically requested a paid-up letter instead. Despite this, I was told that I would still receive data. I then asked for the data service to be cancelled, and I was assured it would be cancelled the following month. However, my account was debited the next month, and again the month after, even after I followed up. I eventually stopped using the account and payments stopped, after which my number was blocked.

Four months after my number was blocked, and while attempts to debit my account were still being made—sometimes twice a month—my account was handed over to Nudebt. I only became aware of this when a debit order from them was returned unpaid on my account. The previous month, the account status on my credit report had already been changed to “bad debt written off,” even though the account is only seven months old. I was not contacted by MTN regarding this, nor did I receive any communication or give consent for my personal or account details to be shared.
