Upgrade cancellation

I received a call from Southern Mobile acting on behalf on MTN in August, then again on the 15th September wanting to know if I wanted to upgrade my existing contract. After listening to all the options I decided to make use of the upgrade but was still unsure on the device I wanted to upgrade to. The conversation ended where Southern Mobile were to phone me back the next day to confirm the device I wanted as well as the colour. I’m currently using a IPhone 6S Plus, needed to see the difference in size between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and actually went that evening to go view the phone, needless to say never received that call.

On the 20th September I received a message from MTN saying that I have been successfully upgraded, which was when I went into the Glen branch to query how the upgrade was processed when they still had to call me back. Spoke to Thabo and he advised will send an email to request a cancellation as I was unhappy, ref# ********** 0. On the 21st September I received an email from MTN with the Subscriber Agreement, once again I went into the branch where they advised they could not assist as I was dealing with Southern Mobile but can just send another mail, ref# ********** 3.

On the 26th September I contacted Southern mobile to query, they advised that the device was already on route and that a request will be send to the courier for the device to be returned to the warehouse, once confirmation is received an email can be send for the contract to be cancelled via the channel department, query logged ref# ********** 0

By the end of September I still received no feedback from either parties, I followed up with MTN, they said they can’t do anything as Southern Mobile need to sort it out and Southern Mobile says it’s not them they do not dispatch the courier it’s from MTN head office side, just a blaming game.

I phoned MTN head office on the 5th October to query, they advised have also logged the call with Internal queries and someone should get back to me within 2-24 hours, ref# ********** 39.

It is now almost 10 days later, still no reply except for another call from one of MTN’s agent wanting to offer me an deal for my upgrade, as if I’ll ever make that mistake again!!!!

How much more airtime do I waste, my MONEY and my TIME trying to resolve this issue!!!!

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.

We apologize for the delayed response.

We have contacted the DSV delivery company, they confirmed the device was sent back to MTN warehouse on the 29-9-2017 with order number ***.

We have sent the request to the MTN warehouse to confirm the RMA number once feedback received the upgrade will be cancelled and term date reversed back to 27-12-2017.

There will be no credit due, the reason for this is the new upgrade done subscriptions is less than the previous upgrade subscription fee.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe

Best regards,

YB

Good day Alice Thank you for the feedback received, the reason I was trying to get this resolved because I wanted to get the correct upgrade and device and would prefer to have this done at one of your branches and not through one of these agents working on behalf of MTN. Is the upgrade option still available? Since my original dealings the options on the plan available have changed as well as the pricing, could you give me an indication on time period given for the warehouse to confirm? I need to know if I can re-apply for the upgrade or should I look at another service provider, will then 10GB data be re-issued on signing of contract as I have not yet used this because we’re waiting for my new device? Looking forward to hearing from you, Regards Yolanda
