Unwanted 'upgrade'
My data contract prescribed running period ran from August 2012 to August 2014. Because I was still happy with the package I opted not to upgrade at the time when I was eligible for an upgrade. The monthly payment went from R199 during the prescribed term to R319 after the 24 months had lapsed.

But I was still happy with my Broadband Lite Uncapped data contract so I wasn't complaining. Earlier this month I received a call from a MTN agent coercing me to upgrade, and I refused, knowing that MTN no longer offers this package, 'upgrading' would mean moving to a 'much' lesser package in comparison. I had been advised so by 2 employees at MTN Bloemfontein (Westdene). After that call I was inundated by tons of smses from MTN urging to 'upgrade', which I just ignored. To my shock, on Monday, I received an sms saying \You have been successfully upgraded". I made calls to MTN contract dept (808)"
