UNSOLICITED ACCOUNT CANCELLATION OF LOYAL CUSTOMER

After changing my BANKING DETAILS only, MTN decided to also change my debit order date from the 1st to the 17th. After missing just one debit order on the 17th of April, I received and a notification on the 26th of April (9 days later) to inform me that I haven't paid my outstanding debt and it has been 20 days since they sent me the last notice so they are cancelling my contract and I must immediately early cancellation fees of R5418.44 or risk legal action!

Further to this, the device on contract has been giving problems and I sent it in for repairs earlier this month (somewhere between the 5th of April and the 11th of April) , after getting it back from MTN it was still not working so I returned it to MTN once again on the 20th so I had been without a phone this entire time, so I am not sure how they contacted me in the "20" days that they are referring to, but they knew to email me the notice of cancellation ONLY 9 DAYS after missing the debit order. I still don't have the phone back so I cannot contact MTN but I did send an email to customer care with an alternative number where I can be reached the same day that I received the notification and they sent me a reference number (***) so I know they have received my correspondence but MTN has not bothered to make contact with me.

This is shocking and very sad, I have been an MTN customer for +/- 10 years and have never missed a payment and this is how MTN treats loyal customers after missing one debit order. This is militant behavior is the new MTN of 2021.
