Unreasonable MTN Legal
About a month ago I received an sms stating that my account was handed over. I phoned MTN to confirm if this was true as I haven't received any notice saying that the account was in arrears and my services hadn't been suspended. They confirmed that it was in fact handed over. I asked for a query to be sent to the legal department on my behalf to have them phone me as they "don't have a direct line". They said the turn over time was 24 to 48 hours. A week later I phoned again and they said that an email was sent. So not only did they not phone me as I requested, the email simply stated what I already knew. At this point their Debt collectors have been breathing down my neck for payment (rudely I might add). I phoned the customer service call centre again to ask for documentation regarding the matter. The documentation they sent was a collection letter dating back to February 2016. Besides the fact that the Feb 2016 collection letter was never sent to me, my statements for Feb 2016 clearly showed that the account wasn't in arrears so there was no reason for such a letter to exist. All in all, three weeks later the collectors phone me again to find out when I will be paying the outstanding account. So I phoned MTN again to log a request with the legal department for a manager to phone me back. More than 48 hours have passed and I am STILL waiting. No one is actually willing to help me come to a resolution regarding the matter.
MTN's service has really been downgrading since the start of 2017. It's useless to speak to the agents because their reasons never match and when someone actually wants to help you, they can't because MTN restricts what they are able to do for us.
I have always stood up for MTN but now I can't wait to cancel the contract!
