Unmerited cellphone contract application vetting outcome
Good day,
A few months ago I was unfortunately a victim of identity theft and subsequently had to get my id number protected with the South African ***** Prevention Services to which I have a letter that I submit when I make any credit application to verify my identity. On monday 20 November I tried opening a MTN cellphone contract through istore and my application was declined indicating the reason “ severe discrepancies”. I checked my credit report and contacted all three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, XDS) and they all confirmed that my credit score is good with no current or past missed payments, defaults, trace alerts, judgments or notices. I also contacted South African ***** Prevention Services who confirmed that my id number is protected and will be flagged when any credit application is made however the letter I provide should enable the institution that I am making the credit application with to proceed with the application as the letter serves as authorisation and confirmation of true identity.
I feel that the MTN vetting team did not apply context when vetting my application and declined the application without merit. My credit score is extremely good, my affordability is extremely good, I provided all required documents my 3 months bank statement, latest payslip, proof of address as well as the letter from the South African ***** Prevention Services indicating that I was previously a victim of *****.
I am requesting that my cellphone contact application please be reassessed/vetted and context app**** as I should not unfairly be disadvantaged because of something that was out of my control which was being a victim of identity *****. I have all the legal paper/audit trail relating to the identity impersonation matter if that is also required.
Your assistance with the above will be highly appreciated.
Regards
