Unhappy MTN Customer

I purchased a Huawei Y3 cellphone this year January 2017 for my daughter. Last week the phone got a reboot message, however we cannot select the reboot option as the message just continues to scroll and we cannot make a selection. On Saturday (02 September 2017) I took the phone into a MTN store in Greenstone and was informed by a Consultant, after consulting with the Manager that I must take the phone directly to Huawei (Melrose Arch or The Glen) to have it looked at. I asked why I should take the phone in and why can't it be booked in by them, I was told because the "screen protector" was cracked and it has a scratch on it. Absolutely pathetic, if you ask me.

Please assist as I do not feel that this is my responsibility to run around and get the phone sorted out.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN.

Our Stores and HVRC (Repair centre) is guided by the Manufacturer’s repair and assessment guidelines, in accordance with their Standards and mandate. Physical damage on handsets voids warranty and repairs cannot be attempted.

The handset is declared BER (Beyond Economical Repairs) due to the Physical damage you have outlined on your post. A physically damaged handset cannot pass quality assurance tests due to defects that HVRC cannot ignore.

Regretfully we are unable to expedite the matter further.

Kind Regards,
Kabelo Brett Mosimanyane

Best regards,

Thank you for your response. The screen is not cracked, i have removed the "cracked" screen protector. Please have a look at the contract and advise how I can cancel it.
