I have had my data & separate cell contract for 18 months, & I have NEVER exceeded my 2 gig (data on my data contract), without purchasing additional data. When I got to the end of my allocated data, my ****le didnt work until I bought more. Then Altech moved to MTN, & it seems somethings gone wrong. I got a bill for July for R2500, instead of R89. I called to query it, and when I didnt get an answer within the 7 days I was promised, I emptied my bank account so that only the regular payment would go off. Not realising, MTN had the right to take the full amount & put my bank acc, thereby putting me into overdraft. I made a 2nd enquiry with MTN (ref ********** 3) on 1/9/2016, & by this weekend, Id had no response. I visited an MTN branch in PE this weekend, (ref ********** ), after I received a message (17/9/2016) I have never had before.....'friendly reminder...exceeded 50%25 of your credit limit...' I was advised that I should expect a further bill of R1200 for again exceeding my data limit, although my data reading had never shown me I had gone over the limit. TODAY...I rec a message that read...'friendly...exceeded 75%25 of your credit limit...'. To add to the confusion, by data ****le now shows I have 4.71g left with 0.00 mb used, and my usage query since January shows I have never exceeded 3 gigs on any given month. What is going on, and why do I just get charged, and why cant MTN help me? What do I do next?

When I received my last reference number, I was told I would be contacted after 7 working days with regards my query. Today is the 8th day. So not only have I had no response from my query direct with MTN, I also have had no response from them through Hello Peter. I there anyone who can advise me how one goes about taking a matter to the Consumer Council?

Thank you for your post.
We apologize for any inconvenience incurred.
Kindly be advised that the data charges was when the package was still on an Open 2GB package the package has only migrated to 2GB Top Up on the 19-9-2016. At the time when the package was on an Open package data could not be purchased and placed on the sim card.
We have sent to you the itemized billing report that reflect the usage are correct and valid.
