********* Behaviour - Preying on the poor

It is a sign of a really pathetic business model when all you have to do is mistakenly click on a link SOMEWHERE on your phone and the next thing (without having to confirm that you intentionally did it) you are subscribed to an app that you never desired or ever use... (Clearly the app is not good enough to get legitimate interested customers). Money gets deducted from your account daily and MTN claims it just collects the money for this app, but wipes its hands clean of any responsibility for it. But to try and CANCEL these subscriptions is an effort worthy of a king (have you ever tried phoning 173?.... Figuring out how to speak to an actual person takes numerous attempts). You actually have to select (when you figure it out) the option NOT to get subscribed to these apps! People who are either not tech savvy or firm enough to know this is BS and just pure theft from unsuspecting victims ****tle old grannies, and the uneducated) will be the worst victims as many will think that this is just how the phone works... This is evil on every level and I think it's appalling that a company such as MTN is getting away with it. Disgusting. What is really scary is how much of a kick back they must be getting to not care about the extent of bad publicity they are getting from it... There are LOADS of unhappy people out there.

Dear Alice, Whilst MTN tries very hard to tell people that this is not an MTN service, your customers are finding it an absolute untruth - the account received is an MTN one, not a Gameloft one, and the money spent goes straight to MTN - not Gameloft. Hence the onus is on MTN to provide proof why you have taken the money. I trust your legal department has fully investigated the Consumer Protection Act in this regard to ensure that what you are doing is legal... I can assure you - what you are doing it NOT protecting your customer at all. Your customer should not have to regularly check that they're not being duped... Never mind hunt to deactivate the service at all. Perhaps you need to also refer this to your ethics department?
