I discovered today that MTN was charging me R700 for "service charges". After calling MTN I was advised that I authorized 2 x daily subscriptions with Basebone, a company I have never heard of. MTN canceled the subscriptions and advise me they cannot assist me any further and told me to contact Basebone. Basebone was no help, except for canceling the subscriptions on their side as well. They could not even tell me what the subscriptions were for. They told me that they are the billing agents for a company called uchater!! Another company whose name I never heard of. I demanded that I be refunded as I did not confirm or authorized any subscription as required by WASPA! The answer I got was send an email... How many people's money is ******/de*****ed by this company and why does service providers allow this?! I am aware of these subscription ******* and the tricks they use to catch people in their skims, so I am particularly vigilant when it comes to unsuspected pop-up messages on websites which they lately use to bamboozle people into daily subscription. The only way that this could have happened is with a new trick!! I am extremely upset and I am sure that there are thousands of consumers suffering the same fate! This is tantamount to ***** and theft. Why is MTN not protecting their clients?!!
